Blood taints the stark, newly fallen snow. More streams from the wound onto the pale hands of the girl. Her tears mingle with his tears and his blood as she cradles his head in her lap.
His ice blue eyes bore into hers. "please, don't leave me," he coughs, spattering blood, "just don't let me die alone." She has seen the boy before, though her memory cannot place him. All she knows is at this moment she is the world to him.

The girl's eyes widen and the young man makes his last blood-choked gasp.

The TableThe girl stood weeping on the ugly, stained carpet. She hated that carpet. And she hated that house. Because it was not the house she once loved. It was not really a house at all, not like before; it was a ratty old trailer. Every day she woke up appalled at it, with its torn up couch, dusty furniture, and dirty dishes no one bothered to wash. The filth just kept piling up until the residue from past meals became too disgusting to look at. It bothered her that no matter how many times the peeling linoleum was mopped, it still would not come clean.The Table
